Hi.

If you don’t see too much of me it’s cause I spend most of my time on discord or with patrons (it never sat right with me that entities get to make bucks by selling our screen time).I officially have all the drums tracks for the New Album. People will ask “How Is This Album Different Than the Last” and we are used to hearing some semi-convoluted reply such as “It Is the Most Honest I Have Ever Been” or “It’s My Favourite Thing I Have Ever Done”.

I always struggled with this question because my mind goes right to: “Well, it’s still me, and it’s still my songs… I’m just hopefully a little less dumb now”.

This collection of songs is drastically different in that I wrote 31 songs in 31 days, and then patrons voted on which songs I should record. Two of the songs, I was sure I would never hear again. At least one I remember uploading and thinking “What Have I Done” because it was so unlike anything I’d written before, and was sure people would hate it.If you’ve ever thought about trying out being a supporter on this platform, now would be the perfect time. It’s only $1 a month or $10.41 for the whole year and you’ll get advance listens to the songs. I’ll be tracking over the next fews months and there are these things called lenses if you’re a $5 a month or $40 a year supporter that are kinda like stories in that they disappear within 24 hours. This is where I post video of tracks as I’m tracking them, including parts that may never make it, and me making a whole mess of mistakes and then laughing my face off.

Now would be a god time to give Patreon a try cause

a) I only make an album once every two years

b) many of the videos evaporate for all time within a day of being posted

c) the people who are a part of this community have been integral in this process. They voted for the songs, and will continue to be involved, for example: This Track of This Track, This Mix Vs. That Mix, etc.

Thank you,Billy

New Album

The votes are in.

Thank you for voting, and thank you for listening.

At least two of these songs I never would have imagined would make the cut. There are a couple I was so sure would make the cut, but in the end, did not. I’m glad I have you guys here to help. I’m thinking about all the ideas I have thrown out over the years. I wish Patreon had existed back then haha.

I’m going to upload the scratch tracks for two more songs written earlier this year that I almost snuck in on days 30 and 31. I wanted them to be included in the voting process, and started to convince myself that 29 new songs in 31 days was still something to be proud of. In the end, I decided against it, and went on to write Goodbye, Brooklyn and Stay as a result. Somehow, the 30th and 31st consecutive songs that I wrote…got the most votes.

The most surprising thing about ALL of this is that the more songs I wrote, the more votes they got. The first couple songs ranked pretty well, but as the month continued, you seemed to like the newer songs. Maybe it means I improved, maybe it just forced me to write in different ways and in different styles. This has been an illuminating experience. Thank you for your contribution.

Here is the track listing for my next musical release.

7 Songs in 7 Days: What I Have Learned

31 of anything…is a lot.

31 flavours of ice cream, 31 books, 31 movies.

31 days is 1/12 of a year.

Here are the things that I have noticed during my first 7 days of trying to write 31 songs in 31 days.

1) Everyone Thinks They Understand Their Own Process. Generally, They Do Not.

31 Songs in 31 Days

Alright!

We did a vote on Patreon and you asked for 31 new songs in 31 days.

Looks like I got my work cut out for me!!!

Expect the first song later this evening. Last year I managed to write 15 songs in 31 days… But I totally cheated! 🤣🤣

Basically, I’d invite people over to my house… And I wouldn’t let them leave and until we had finished a song!I stole the idea from the Beatles… Someone asked them how they had so many songs, and they admitted to just locking themselves in a room and not leaving until the song was done.

Well, I’m gonna give that a try. I foresee some days where I will still cheat a little bit… Songs I have started and maybe not finished… Maybe even some songs written last year that I kind of forgot about or didn’t plan to record/put on any album. But as often as I can, I am committing to writing an entirely new song, every single day, from scratch.

Thank you so much for this awesome challenge, and thank you so much for being here.

Christmas

I went into this week thinking it was going to be pretty tough. Almost a month ago, I started wrapping anything that showed up at the house from cleaning supplies to my new day planner, just so I wouldn’t have to sit alone and depressed on Christmas day.

Well, starting a couple days ago this turned out to be one of the better Christmases ever.

If anyone is struggling or feeling lonely right now, we are still hanging out watching different versions of the Christmas Carol for pretty much the rest of the day.

You are not alone.

I know it feels really lonely right now. Trust me. I do. We are here for you. Come and hang out. You don’t need to say antt hewing if you’ll don’t want, just know that we are all together.

If anyone is struggling or feeling lonely right now… (Continued on Patreon).
