Day 3

Day three of three songs in three days. How long can I keep this up? Who can say for sure.

Cowrite with my friends Kevin and Chris, who make up 1/2 of a band I’m in called Send A Raven.

When You Run Out of Time

What can we do

Now that we’re dying

If I could start again

With energy to spend

Hide all the clocks

Pull me back in

Stained glass

Watch the expanse

All this medicine isn’t keeping you alive

The best part is the next part

When you go back in time

Send away all the angels

It’s all that you can do

They do not deserve to see

What the world did to you

You might not get any closer

On the edge looking down

Out in the horizon

Is a world you haven’t found

All this medicine isn’t keeping you alive

What is worth holding on to

When you run out of time

All this medicine isn’t keeping you alive

What is worth holding on to

When you run out of time

All this medicine isn’t keeping you alive

What is worth holding on to

When you’ve run out of time

Day 2

Day two of two songs in two days. Yes, I’m trying to write a song a day. Technically I finished this one before the day was over. Technically it was started Monday when Ingrid came over. Another Billy and Ingrid cowrite for the books.

Day 1

Day One of writing one song per day

Happy New Years! Thank you once again for being here. This one is a cowrite with Huntsville Alabama’s Ingrid Marie. Thank you Ingrid!

BRAVE

I walked in to your room

I couldn’t find the words

Do I have to spell it out

Sit down this one’s gonna hurt

I thought you might have known

Many times I had tried

To lay it all out

Should have come as no surprise

You don’t have to be brave

You don’t have to let it go

You don’t even have to try

You are never alone

You don’t have to be brave

I guess I should have known

Should have read the signs

Should have hid your keys

Should have read your mind

You gotta make your move

It’s gonna be ok

This could be your shot, kid

This could be your big break

You don’t have to be brave

You don’t have to let it go

You don’t even have to try

You were never alone

You don’t have to be brave

Or pretend that you’re strong

Let’s just both fall apart

Right here where we belong

You were already packed

I was turning over stones

Something shifted in the earth

When I picked up the phone

We’ve been stumbling in the dark

For half of our lives

Something bigger than us both

Pulled me back inside

You don’t have to be brave

Rainy Day (New Song Demo)

I want to live in the middle of nowhere

Never change the clocks

Stay up until the early morning

Doing whatever I want

Wake up when the sun goes down

Climb out on to the roof

Tell the night I invented the sky

Just to give to you

But you didn’t want it

So you handed it back

Wasn’t part of the master plan

If you could fold it up

Maybe put it away

Take it out on a rainy day

But the stars don’t wait for no one

And I’m not running out of time

You didn’t stop the world from spinning

You were barely mine

I can see all the parallels

Dimensions, space and time

The far reaching ripple effect

Of you walking out of my life

But I couldn’t do it

So I handed it back

Wasn’t something you could understand

If I could hold on

Maybe make you stay

But I’m not gonna be your rainy day

I couldn’t do it

So I handed it back

Wasn’t part of the master plan

If you could fold it up

Maybe put it away

Take it out on a rainy day

The Quarry Demo

TMaking this one public so you get an idea of what we are doing over on Patreon.

What is Patreon?

It’s a subscription service where you pay a low monthly installment for exclusive content. It is a way to  directly fuel creativity because it contributes regularly to the creative process.  It is something I have dreamed of before it existed, because the traditional album cycle (Write An Album, Record It, Release It, Sell Copies for $10, Tour It, Do Nothing Until You Can Rinse and Repeat All That) never really made sense to me. I’m ALWAYS writing. I’m always doing something. Rather than release one thing every two years, I can release things as I write them, involving those who wish to be included in the creative process and behind the scenes stuff.

What do you get when you pay $1 a month? Exclusive demos of songs before they show up on new albums. Unreleased demos dating as far back as 2002. How about $5 a month? Videos of me rehearsing for a tour, cover videos of songs I’m learning/enjoying, studio footage, photos and random stuff I find on old hard drives. How about $10 a month? You get everything. Instructional videos, diary entries, stream of consciousness writing (what I do before I edit an idea in to a rough draft before it becomes a song) and entires from my biography as I write them.

What do I get when you contribute? Everything. It inspires me to be more creative, writing more songs and putting out more albums. It makes me thankful for every day. It makes me work harder and gets me to hone in my focus. It makes me realize what is really important about this life that we are given. And, it pays for shipping vinyl overseas when I totally mess up on how much it is going to cost. It pays for my monthly ProTools subscription, time in the studio, guitar strings, pens and paper. It pays for guitar and amp repairs. It is a HUGE help.

Thank you those of you that are here, still here. As always, let me know what you’d like to see more of. I hope you can stay here forever with me. It is such a huge help. And such a cool thing. So much gets lost in the world of social media. We start to feel alone even though we are more connected than we have ever been. This safe place is away from all the noise, a place where we have a direct line to one another. Thank you so much for being here. Without you I’d just be screaming at the walls…more haha.
